keeping you informed

8am
so yesterday my body took a long break. i didn't have any notable contractions from 8am to 4pm. i had a few last evening and a real good one today. they are not in a rhythm or anything, so it doesnt mean i'm in real labor or anything like that. but it does mean that my body is still working on getting there which is good news.

Derek's parents arrive at noon tomorrow so i'm going to prepare for their arrival. we had to arrange for my brother to pick them up so that if i do go into labor then derek won't be really far away from me.

i have begun having nice long walks for the last 3 days, so i will continue that today and also do some grocery shopping.

i know so many people are excited for me to go into labor, but i am telling myself i have between 2 and 12 days to go so that i don't have such a disappointing experience like i had yesterday. we'll see what happens.

one friend commented that its pretty weird that i'm wishing pain on myself (labor) but hey, can't wait to meet the little one :D

3pm UPDATE:

i had about an hour of really nasty contractions that almost made me cry. those are the ones i need to have more of. i just came back from a vigorous walk so we'll see what happens. i'm not trying to be too optimistic of it happening today/tomorrow but we'll see.

i'm glad you're keeping us up to date on what's going on with the contractions and all. it's neat to see it all unfold - God has this all planned out so perfectly!

i know -- the waiting is the worst part...and every little movement you wonder 'is this it?'. i went swimming to induce my labour....swam hard for hours! Marco Polo works wonders ;)
it's funny how we'll try anything to get the little guys out!! keep your mind occupied and be as patient as you can be! i'll be thinking about you these next few days....the end is in sight!!

thanks jessi! i'm just glad i'm having some contractions again. get things moving. it was a bit alarming to have a break from them yesterday, cuz i know they are what get the body ready for labor.

so, i'm gonna go nap now, then go shopping & walking to use gravity to help get the little one ready.

do you guys have your list of names figured out/narrowed down yet? are you going to share name possibilities, or do i need to wait for that, too?

Hello,
It's me Renee, I was checking up on your progress. What worked for me and my close friend was raspberry tea. I had a few cups of it and my water broke during that night. It helps to contract your uterus, also it is good post partum. So get yourself a big box of it.
Take care

Amanda I'm so anxious to find out if it's a boy or a girl too - and what you name it! Keep up with the "vigorous walking"!

Hey Salmons, glad to hear you're keeping perspective on the whole waiting game. I was two weeks past my due date, and it was torturous. Keep up with the drinking, being dehydrated can actually stop your contractions, whereas making sure you're well hydrated will help make your contractions less painful (I'm sure you know all this already, but I have to put my two cents in!) My cousin who is a midwife also told me to eat pineapple. It's supposed to help labour along...Can't wait to hear your happy news. We're praying for you all :)
