we all went swimming at the local pool and the kids really enjoyed it. diedre got cold pretty quick but was all smiles. then we headed to the hetzlers to enjoy the evening.

the floor is done for now. it needs to be sanded and stained in the next few weeks.

a friend said recently that they should make baby shammy outfits for buffing floors--that could really come in handy!

it was a fun party. ella didn't like it so much when diedre was trying to rip open her gifts...diedre will definitely be ready to unwrap gifts when Christmas comes!

oh ya, diedre peed through her outfit at the beginning of the party. i was so distressed because the back up outfit i had was a yellow shirt & blue pants. she really looked dressed like a boy, so ella lent her a nice pink track suit.

i helped with the last bit of underlay removal today. it has all been scraped off. now we will have to remove the squeaks from the floor (rick & derek had so much fun doing that yesterday, it was really cute--i mean manly--to see them hopping around and attacking the floor with their power tools).

derek expresses his love for me on gross early 1970's flooring underlay

rick and derek worked for hours on removing the carpeted layers and underlay to prepare the floor for hardwood installation. the plan is to install hardwood in the dining and living room areas. we will move the laminate flooring into diedre's room at a later date (which i am especially pleased about now that we know the carpet is too layers--icky).
