milestone: drank from a straw. joanna insisted that this was a milestone. david shared his cup that had a straw with diedre and she gnawed on it and then sucked through the straw.

derek was watching diedre while i went out to the store quickly...he called me to say she crawled a few feet. i was so sad to have missed it. but he tried to get it on video. she did not do it as well for the video.

we had a housewarming/birthday for rose & kristin/thanksgiving party at the vanhulsentop's new place. it reminds us of grandma's place.

daddy's new work truck

derek's boss approached him with a proposition on monday last week to split the lease of a new truck for the next 2 years. for a good price derek will have this vehicle for doing estimates and getting to & from work as well as getting around town if need be.

check out my first 2 teeth! the left one came in at 6 months but went away after 3 weeks to come back fully at 7 months. the right one came in a week later.

derek & i have been cleaning our old house for our friends to move in on friday. whew, its been alot of work but derek has done most of the cleaning while i've been caring for diedre. its finally all done :) thats why we've been around for play days with miles.

a sweet moment

7 months old!

diedre is doing great :) her first tooth has made another appearance, this time it is more noticeable, sharper and sticking out (it was just a tiny white dot a few weeks ago that went away until saturday).

she has the new habit of holding onto things and swinging her arms wildly. example: teething toys, blocks, what have you...the only problem is, she punched me in the cheek and the eye today. she has quite the strong punch!


i am trying to teach diedre to clap. here she is doing assisted clapping--the hard part is teaching her to keep her hands flat together when she claps, rather than to squeeze her fingers (clasping). the next step is for her to gain the motor skills to make the clapping contact herself.

our new home

living room. needs new flooring. we'll probably put laminate down.

kitchen. it has a good amount of storage with a full pantry--i've always wanted a pantry :)


master bedroom. nice big closet, like we've become accustomed to. all the rooms have nice big windows.


diedre's room. it was purple when we last saw it, they painted it a nice baby yellow.

other room. large "bedroom" with sliding glass door that leads to the back yard.


south facing backyard. very private. it has tall cedar trees along the back and some bamboo over to the right and a big walnut tree on the left side.
