i helped with the last bit of underlay removal today. it has all been scraped off. now we will have to remove the squeaks from the floor (rick & derek had so much fun doing that yesterday, it was really cute--i mean manly--to see them hopping around and attacking the floor with their power tools).

derek expresses his love for me on gross early 1970's flooring underlay

rick and derek worked for hours on removing the carpeted layers and underlay to prepare the floor for hardwood installation. the plan is to install hardwood in the dining and living room areas. we will move the laminate flooring into diedre's room at a later date (which i am especially pleased about now that we know the carpet is too layers--icky).

milestone: drank from a straw. joanna insisted that this was a milestone. david shared his cup that had a straw with diedre and she gnawed on it and then sucked through the straw.

derek was watching diedre while i went out to the store quickly...he called me to say she crawled a few feet. i was so sad to have missed it. but he tried to get it on video. she did not do it as well for the video.

we had a housewarming/birthday for rose & kristin/thanksgiving party at the vanhulsentop's new place. it reminds us of grandma's place.

daddy's new work truck

derek's boss approached him with a proposition on monday last week to split the lease of a new truck for the next 2 years. for a good price derek will have this vehicle for doing estimates and getting to & from work as well as getting around town if need be.

check out my first 2 teeth! the left one came in at 6 months but went away after 3 weeks to come back fully at 7 months. the right one came in a week later.


this doesnt show any teeth but its sooo cute!
